It's also in jewelry solder, it makes it flow a little better, we use cadnium free solder, but most people don't. Nickel is a component of some sterling silver, that is legally .925% silver, but the rest is an alloy that can contain nickel, which does cause problems for people. If you buy sterling silver that is made to EU standards, then it's nickel free.
