Re: Mirena IUD removal after four years
I am so sorry you've had such horrible problems. Hopefully you are healing well and will continue to improve. I had my Mirena the whole 5 years not realizing that all my medical issues were realated to it. I gained close to 75 pounds, had wild mood swings and bouts of depression, thyroid problems, high blood pressure, swollen feet and hands, numbness mostly on my left side, severe joint pain, no period for 5 years, headaches that would put me to bed for a whole weekend every month, sore breasts, no sex drive, I felt the "baby kicking", severe insomnia, I felt exhausted all the time, and I could go on and on. I got mine removed in March and started feeling better immediately. I'm not 100% but I'm way better. I finally got a period last month but I'm over due again. I think it just takes a while for your body to regulate the hormones so it can function normally. I still have some bad days where I'm exhausted or grumpy. I have nausea still and occasionally a headache that puts me to bed for a while. But my sex drive is back thank goodness and overall I feel much better! Just give yourself a chance to recover slowly. Good luck!
