I then did find a doctor who understands. He says a healthy person has a TSH of under 1, but if you're close to 1 that is pretty good. Unfortunately its also possible to have a very low TSH and still be hypothyroid. In other words its complicated, and the TSH score alone is useless in evaluating it. By the way, did you ever test your adrenal function? If the adrenals are weak it makes recovery much harder. Also, taking Iodine is usually important, as most of us with low thyroid are deficient in iodine
