Hmm, certainly the Marshall Protocol appears to have cured individuals and there are plenty that mix a wide set of ABX together to help out with both Lyme and co-infections but there is an alarming failure rate.

Whether truth or hypothesis, I have seen at least several articles describing the function of ABX with Lyme as simply delaying the issue and most of the time making it worse.
IMO the use of ABX is hailed as an achievement of symptom management due to the mix of co-infection present in the bio-warfare delivery package, the insect bite. From Dr. Klinghardt PDF “A Look Beyond Antibiotics” we know that in certain (tested) areas not just ticks but OTHER stinging insects carry this package, as high as 22%...
In short there are some Lyme specialists who consider ABX simply a delaying tactic and if I remember correctly; Rosner in the Book “Top 10 Lyme Disease Treatments” talks about a high recurrence rate with ABX resistant Lyme.

This cyst will stay there for ~5years only to emerge with multiple spirochetes.

ABX appears easier because it hides a lot of the co-infection issue but I have talked to people with Lyme and Bartonella who have been on at least 4 years of ABX without success. One thing is certain, if I track back in time to when the worst steps in my health decline occurred they where always 4-6 years after heavy ABX use.
