You might want to check with your local health department. They have a sliding fee scale. My husband makes a decent amount of money. If they could have gotten my mirena out I would have only had to pay 20 dollars. I know I tried like hell to remove mine by myself! Too bad my strings had been cut too short! I was originally told by my doctor I could pull it out on my own. If I was going to take mine out back then I would have tugged on the string and if there wasn't any resistance I would have tugged it out. If you have a period it would be easier to get because the cervix is lower and softer. I know this is not good to do but I know what its like to not have insurance and desperate. I know when I was stuck with mirena I felt like I was fighting for my life everyday! Look at adamson's posts. I think she has a link for a removal video. Good luck!
