Re: Essential Oil treatments?
I have heard about Oil of cypress (external application) is good for inflammation, from a friend of mine. I have not tried it, but it has worked for him. Currently I have been dealing with a bad case of costochondritis, or Tietze's syndrome. Recently, my doctor had me start an icing routine that has really helped with the pain.
It was recommended to handle pain, complete a 15/30 set of icing every 1.5hrs for acute pain. Then, spread it out to every 2-3hrs.
15 mins - Ice the ribs affected
30mins - no ice

My doctor recommended I place the ice pack in a pillow case to make sure it was cold enough, without causing an ice burn.
Also, along with this icing, my doctor has been using kineso taping (changed twice a week). I have finally seen some improvement and able to cut back on pain meds. I have been dealing with this pain for about a year and this been the first time I have had hope of getting better. If your friend is unable to see a doctor to try kineso taping, then icing and Oil of cypress could be a start.
