That is blaming the victims left handedly. If Mexico had the political backbone to resist the dumping of corn then they would have been the exception. America is the 3,000 Lb gorila of elitism in the illegal immigrant debate in the room and you are talking about the hand full of elite in Mexico who actually profited from the running of Mexican subsistence corn farmers from off of their land. It only takes walking in another man's shoes for a while to see that the average illegal immigrant had no choice but to leave their own country. When I lived in Mexico, I found that most people would only go to live in America permanently if they did not have a strong family in Mexico. The poorest of the poor often see America as their only chance to just keep their family fed. I on the other hand, hope that when America is the one wanting to migrate to Mexico, that we will still have a chance to swim that river the other way. Tweet
