Re: My experience with Mirena after 8 months of use, still having side effects

   My daughter has also had the Mirena in for 8 and a half months. She has had all of these symptoms, cramps so bad she doubles over in pain and is in tears, weight gain, brownish discharge, clots, severe mood swings, fatigue, etc. She has had so many problems since having it put in. Her doctor keeps telling her to hang in there, that the iud is not causing all these problems. It is interesting that she never had these problems before she had it put in.

   The more that I read about the iud, the more I am concerned that it is causing some physical damage. I am encouraging her to get it removed and she is ready to have it removed. We have talked to several women, one of them a nurse that said that she had it in for 6 months and had it removed because she could not bear it any more, I might have to take her to the ER to have it removed because she has a doctor's appointment the end of next week but I am not sure she is going to be able to handle it that long. She has also lost her sex drive and has had so many urinary tract infections over the last several months, it isn't funny. Hope this is helpful.
