What were your blood pressure numbers before... and after?

Your friend sounds like he is taking a very responsible approach to this. I think it is important to follow alternate treatments with testing to monitor their effectiveness. Since there are no toxicological studies on the ingestion of ASC, he should consider publishing his results.

Perhaps your friend could share what tests he is having done to monitor for any toxicological side effects. That way others using ASC can monitor themselves and know that they are having the right tests done.
