Re: Hooray for the Irish!
Yay Ireland.
Good post !
"It is not truly democratic that less than a million people can decide the fate of nearly half a billion Europeans."
That is rich... in pretty much the same way that a steaming fresh pile of dung is. Kudos to Bendit for really pushing the envelope on double-think. A good analogy seems to be as follows. In America, specifically in the central portion of the North American Continent where the states (sovereign governments, like New England, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, etc., have been united for a wee bit over 230 years, it has thus followed and been the rule - law of the land, that for certain weighty matters (not all, but some certain) it has long been held that democratic principles (not to be confused with 'a democracy') are to be used in the course of deciding certain situations .... like, when a large majority (3/4) of the states must agree by way of up-yes, votes, and as such, the matter at hand - act / proclamation / issue / treaty / "law" is to be enforced uniformly throughout all states; ratification, without which it is not officially treated, on paper, as being in force uniformly as genuine, bona fide law. Meanwhile, forces manifesting in and around Europe would have people believe that the United States of Europe exists merely by decree. If this was not still a work in progress, why was there a vote on the Lisbon treaty in Ireland in the first place. Is this not prima facie evidence that the USE does not, yet, officially exist, lawfully, on paper? Meanwhile, if people allow themselves to fall in for the kind of thinking promoted by Bendit, he wants to grant status and subsequent privileges - as though they are already states united, to states that thus far, at least on official paper, have not yet been so united. He wants to allow states in Europe the privilege of using democratic principles - like the ratification process, that are given to states that have united accordingly.... except, the states have not yet united accordingly, but Bendit and ilk (is that bend it, as go ahead, bend the rules to suite, or is it bandit?) do not want to let this little detail get in their way .... very clever and cunning tactic!
Meanwhile, yay Ireland!
