NPN is a huge issue... bad stuff that. It is the reason people and animals get sick... it was the reason that pets died last year from NPN containing additives in the food coming from China... they were using NPN to make the "protein" content appear much higher than it actually was.

I know it can get confusing...

this is why people pay so little attention to this critical issue. One of those out of sight out of mind things...
