"Like Alan says, though do the research and make up your own mind."
This is important. A person needs to dabble with finding stuff on their own, even if it is nothing more than clicking a mouse button to retrieve an article that somebody else wrote. At least the person is getting it on their own terms rather than having it pushed onto them. With TV, aside from ordering movies and pizzas, there is absolutely no interaction required. Clicking a channel switching gadget is not my idea of interaction. With TV, content comes at you non-stop automatically. If it nauseates or repulses, there are two basic choices: click the clicker in hopes of landing on something that does not nauseate, or turn off the blasted thing. Slowly, the commercial Internet is gradually becoming more and more like this, meaning, once you land at a given web site, it is programmed to immediately begin swamping you with content you did not request, flashy, sparkly, very sparkly content, look at all the pretty colors. For now, there remains an ever dwindling supply of respectable resources of information that allow the searcher to search and browse unfettered, so at least there is still a small amount of control and selection over whatever poisons there are to choose ;)
Another thing that has been very helpful and important for me is getting info from diverse sources, and no, I don't mean getting info from 5 different web sites all funded by NBC/GE, or Fox/News Corp. It is for this reason that I'll frequently bite the bullet and browse certain sources - like an AJ/PP, that I know in the past has been a known source of mis / dis - info. Somehow, I think it helps to at least be exposed to contrary views, even if I can't get behind the views, it helps broaden a person's capacity.
PS - around the edges, that Jordan interview with AJ tells me he has gotten older than he is (67), perhaps because he has been ill and possibly beat up for too long, and may not always be as sharp as he once was. I noticed that after a fairly mild-mannered intro, it was not long before AJ was leading and guiding where possible, and interrupted as necessary. Whether Jordan allowed this knowingly, or not, I am not sure. He sounds too tired for a 67 year old fellow. From what I can tell, Kissinger did not write the book that contains the quote "soldiers are dumb animals serving as pawns of foreign interests", but at least twice Jordan, with the assistance of AJ, said he did.
