Re: I'm new & need help!
Hello Student,
It appears that your lemon juice is quite strong.
The amount of ClO2 that is released upon activation is directly related to how far the PH of the solution is lowered. The solution will be a pale yellow when only a small amount of ClO2 is released into the solution, a dark yellow when a greater amount of ClO2 is released, and it will turn reddish brown when a very high amount of ClO2 is released into the solution.
All of this is fine, as long as you properly dilute your solution.
Several times in Jim Humbles book, he refers to the diluted solution having around 1 PPM free ClO2. A solution of this strength would have only a very slight hint of yellow color. Basically it would look like clear water.
Using some very rough calculations, it would appear that your reddish brown solution is around 1000X stronger than you want it to be. If you dilute your solution with about 100 liters of water, you should be close to where you want to be.
If you took a solution with this high a concentration, you can expect adverse health effects.
It is probably best to take a few days off and let the solution work its way out of you. During those days, you can pick up some free ClO2 test strips and practice mixing your solution and diluting it down to around 1 PPM free ClO2.
