Re: beginning a new fast/a recent blood test
bella lucia,
most people are Vitamin D Deficient.
Run thru this website for recommended blood levels and how to measure them.

As humans we are meant to live an outdoor lifestyle with the necessary exposure to the elements to receive adequate Vitamin D3, which is actually a hormone precursor, converted by the skin.
I would say it is nigh on impossible to receive adequate amounts of Vitamin D3 just from sun exposure, well not in the winter anyway, summer is definitely a time to receive adequate sun-exposure if you can do this on a regular basis (weather permitting). I think half an hour of full-body sun exposure means your body will receive 20,000ius of Vitamin D3......more than enough. But the body is wise enough not to convert this light exposure to too much D3 as it shuts down production.
D3 is one of the few supplements I use on a daily basis (summer and winter) because I do not get enough light exposure to my skin, at the dose of 2000ius, which I think is a prophylactic against 77% of all cancers.
After your fast and hopefully some judicious sun-exposure throughout I would opt for the supplementation option to hike your blood levels of D3 to where they should be.
