6 month old w/ possible Hsv1 infection! What do we do!!

My careless, selfish, stubborn mother has been kissing my 6 month old nephew on the lips even though she has a cold sore. (Only when I'm not around) Today I caught her and we got into the worst argument. Now I am very afraid for him. He likes to rub to notice see if he actually has symptoms through initial outbreak is going to be nerve racking.

What can we do? Is olive leaf (syrup, extract whatever) safe to give to babies. The last thing he needs is a drug. Even though they say herbs are bad I know that the doctor won't hesitate to pump him full of Acyclovir. What about spreading? What can we do to prevent that. He's teething and keeps his fingers in his mouth. Talk about timing. I'm am worried sick to death and I need prayers on top of prayers as well as help from you all.

P.S. Is it possible that shaving on your top lip can give you blisters that might resemble cold sore. She has too much pride to go and get it tested. She says she cares about him but obviously not that much.
