I googled sodium chlorite and ancient Egyptians and didn't find anything. They used sodium choride in embalming, not chlorite. I could be wrong, but I didn't find anything. What I did find was that they used natron, which was a combination of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate with traces of sodium chloride and sodium sulfate. It was used by the ancient Egyptians to dry out the bodies.
