There are plenty of clinics that work with patients with no insurance or lack of coverage. They require proof of income or lack there of because they work on sliding fees and often receive grants. Planned Parenthood removed mine at my annual exam and because of my income, I payed a twenty dollar co pay. Look in your phone books for feminist health clinics, Planned Parenthood offices, and call your local Department of Health and Human Services offices. Even if you can't get to there offices, they often have the names of local clinics that see uninsured patients. The resources are out there, you just have to become your own advocate and find them. Why screw around with the drug companies who offer reimbursement for removal, but deny any knowledge of side effects. The mirena may be effective in 90% of women worldwide, but that may mean the other 10% could translate to thousands of women with side effects. I don't think it should be removed from the market because it is the safest and most reliable BC for women around the world who really have no access to other costly methods and inadequate medical care. I think the side effects should be recognized and published and given to women so they can make an informed decision for themselves. We should not take the right to safe and effective birth control away from women just because we were mislead.
