Re: My point was . . .(edit)
No, that's not what I'm saying at all.
I'm saying it's hubris for amateurs here to pose as specialists -- and that people looking for help shouldn't assume there's going to find The Answer in any one post.
There is a wealth of information here that is growing constantly but it's a starting point only.
"Educating instead of medicating."
We're brainwashed for years that the answer will be a pill.
You want to wean people off that mentality, then let's not suggest that they can just substitute "pill" for "curezone post."
We need to take full responsibility for our bodies. If we don't, then we will be forever chasing one symptom after another. Unfortunately that can take time and a serious investment of energy and self-education, and yes, sometimes it takes the help of flesh-and-blood healers as well.
I don't think we always need an in-person healer to help. It depends on the issue. With some symptoms it's pretty easy to determine the cause. If I've barked my shin on the edge of the coffee table I can be pretty sure I know why I have a bruise. If I'm experiencing a constellation of symptoms that I can only express in highly subjective terms it can be a lot trickier. If my symptoms have been building over years it can be hard to tease out the real cause because symptoms tend to shift & evolve over time; sometimes we can't even remember how things got started.
My example holds in this case. If the original poster takes some of the advice offered and her son starts taking amino acids, it might very well alleviate his symptoms. But what if the root cause is mercury toxicity or lead poisoning? Do you want to be responsible for guiding someone on a path that results in him/her missing an opportunity to truly be healed??? I sure don't.
Several weeks ago someone posted here to list a bunch of emotional/psychological symptoms he'd been feeling recently. He also listed all the cleansings he'd done, his diet etc. and said he believed himself to be very clean. I posted back that given his history maybe the issue was spiritual not physical. A few days later he posted in another forum and turns out concurrent with the emergence of the symptoms he had been exposed to some pretty nasty toxins. Think "radioactive waste," 2Sirius. He hadn't mentioned that in his first post; my advice was therefore sheer idiocy and I, quite rightly, felt like a fool.
Get my point now? I'm not accusing anyone here of being any more a fool than I am myself, but I am saying that fools aren't healers, no matter how fine we feel when we dash off a post.
