type one diabetic with weight problems
i posted something about this on the type one diabetic forum, but no one has responded, so i will try this one. as i said, i have type one diabetes - i have had it for twenty six years. i've never been bone skinny, but as i got into my late twenties and thirties, i found i could not shed the pounds. i know it is normally harder to lose weight the older you get. but i would really try - do the healthy diet, i drank nothing but water and exercised every day. i lost about ten or twelve
pounds and thought i was on my way, but then it just stopped. no matter what i did - exercising more didn't help, nor did eating less or anything. i asked my doctor about it and he said due to my metabolism and age, he didn't see me EVER losing it and would be just happy if i didn't gain any more. how am i supposed to manage that? even if i eat next to nothing i can't stop gaining. i have never been this heavy and it is causing me GREAT distress. i can't really do the atkins diet because it is too much protein, which isn't ideal for diabetics - i need some carbs. i've been on an insulin pump for a few years now, so it is easier for me to cut back on food, but it doesn't seem to help. nothing does! does anyone have any advice??
