That is interesting. This disease pathogen [MAP] is more commonly associated with HIV patients, and is carried by birds and ruminants which I suppose includes cattle.
I wonder if the patient with active NOD 2/card 15 gene is open to infection from MAP or it's variants, or, if exposure to the disease causes expression of the gene in certain individuals. Exposure to unpasteurized milk [inluding goat, cow or sheep] could make perfect sense in this context.
If these animals carry the bacterium, it also makes sense that certain parasites could be vectors too. Shroom
