Re: Coffee Debacle

Green Tea........I mean, is it just the fact that it has so much less caffeine, or is there more to it? sans sucre

Yep, more to it.

A 200ml/7oz cup can contain 80 to 175mg of caffeine.

The same amount of tea, 30 to 70mg.

The caffeine in tea is counteracted upon by two other alkaloids, theobromine and theophylline.

These two relax the smooth muscles where caffeine stimulates the heart and nervous and respiratory systems.

Furthermore, Theanine an amino acid, is found almost exclusively in green tea. It exerts beneficial effects on brain metabolism. Theanine induces relaxation without causing drowsiness, as measured by increased generation of alpha-waves. Theanine may improve learning ability and sensations of pleasure by affecting dopamine and serotonin neurotransmitters in the brain.

Because of these 3 items in tea, the caffeine is effectively over ridden.

Something you don’t want to know.

Japan uses Theanine in many of its common products.

Helps keep their overstressed and overworked population from self imploding.

Aside from being a really great feel good mood drug for selling crap food.
