Jessesmom, two points to ease your mind...

...1. From what I've read, adult strongyloides are 2 mm long.

Although they have some nasty effects which really hurt folks, I don't think that either of the two things she coughed up could possibly have been that particular species of critter.

Besides, adult strongyloides are, apparently, clear-colored, though the larval stage (which is what would be coughed up) is probably white, or yellowish...and quite small.

I have read of only two varieties of parasites that undergo the trip from the lungs to the digestive tract, in the larval stage...ascaris and strongyloides...obviously there are others.

Spitting all phlegm and mucus that comes into the mouth is a dandy idea...stops the life-cycle of those critters, cold.

...2. You've already given your granddaughter the most valuable tool for well-being she will ever receive...awareness. You have primed her 'noticer' to 'see' every bit of info on the subject that comes into her view.

Likely she will seek information, and not just because she saw parasites for herself, but because she 'felt' the difference of having fewer parasites, in whatever stage.

That place in well-being is indelibly marked in her memory forever.

I think anecdotal information, the individual's feelings, are the greatest teachers of all.

We teach ourselves the truth...and reason cannot be denied.

Nine-year-olds are really smart. And people of all ages remember well-being...that's what we are all about.

It seems the bitterest pill for any of us to swallow is rejection of things we have discovered for ourselves. But, to reject an idea people have to consider it, first. From there, the possibility is lodged in the sub-conscious forever...an echo.

Even just a smile, a thought, shows on our faces and in our demeanor. Others can't help but notice...even if they don't consciously remember, their sub-consciouses will draw them to you when they question. You have answers they want...even if they don't 'know' it yet.

Between our ears we have the fastest computers that will ever exist on this planet...faster than those who would sell us different information, because all they can do is 'damage control', after the fact.

So, in my opinion, you can smile, agree, and be conciliatory till the cows come home...the seeds are already well-planted.

My best,

Fledgling
