This is so great. People from this forum have told me that they’ve started to get contacts in the medical field, including scientists, physicians, and sufferers with key contacts from various parts in the UK and U.S. I'll try to organize this info to discuss it with everyone next week so that we can all work together.
I think that we should start by asking these contacts what course of action they recommend we take to not only heighten awareness of the causes and impact of serious body odor, but ask the medical community leadership to establish a protocol for medical doctors to follow when a patient complains of body odor which could then be communicated to the medical community in professional journals and through university Schools of Medicine throughout the world.
First, I suggest that everyone in this forum, and the TMAU forum, document HONEST concrete testimony of what their physician’s course of action has been when they heard of their body odor complaint. I have checked in the msn.groups forum, http://groups.msn.com/bodyodorsupport/general.msnw?action=get_message&mvi... under the thread mustering up the courage, and some people have documented their experience in that thread. This is the testimony we need to gather in our forum as well to present it to the medical establishment (our contacts), so that they can come up with a solution. Hopefully, this solution, or recommended protocol, can be published it in professional journals, and presented to university Schools of Medicine throughout the world so that they better train future physicians on this issue.
I think this is a good starting point. So, let's ask all forum members to begin documenting their experiences with their medical doctors. I know these experiences have produced a great deal of frustration, but let us present it in as positive a manner as possible, assuming that the physicians truly want to help their patients, but lack the knowledge of how to handle body odor complaints.
Second, let's ask all forum members for referrals of physicians, scientists, and medical students that may be interested in explaining to us which course of action to take to accomplish this task.
I'll be more able to actively participate in this process next week, but meanwhile, we can really use this info.
