Re: Feeling Lost
First of all I'm SO SORRY you feel bad and alone!
1. You're not alone...since we're here. :)
2. Nobody feels that bad when they have company and that's what we are! : )
Do you think perhaps, that *something* inside of you is telling you that maybe you can do better but you feel at a loss? Well, believe it or not, that's great! HUH? Which is maybe why you feel separated from your surroundings. Think of this as your cocoon stage! : )
And PLEASE Whatever you do, stay away from plastic surgery unless you have a honker longer than Pinocchio!
By my screen name you'd think it were true that life's a breeze? But I had to LEARN HOW to make life a breeze, even in the middle of YEARS of depression...sound hard?
It isn't really. But then again I REALLY went for it! And my advice is from my experience and I think if you Googled Dr.Phil, he'd have even better advice than me.
>>>Change your mind >>>by distracting yourself... don't wallow in self-pity too long, it's the wrong direction and very unhealthy. Pity becomes pregnant with more negativity and before you know it you've created guests to attend your party...PITY party...boring, whining, wallowing, draining, static, not fun and where do you go from there? Not too healthy, friend!
SOME THINGS TO TRY:
Epsom Salt baths are great! Put on some POSITIVE music, light a candle, and SOAK FOR AT LEAST 20 minutes. The salts draw out the toxins they're inexpensive and you'll feel like you went to a spa for the entire day.
Read up on Amino acids. They really help depressed and down folks like us.
Challenge yourself by going to church or temple or meditation...great!
You can arrive just as the service starts and sit in the back...great!
Some of us who care about you are writing to YOU...great!
Surround yourself with upbeat, positive, good people...when I was depressed and COULDN'T talk I would go to the park and see kids play, teens practice their sports, walk through the park neighborhood, appreciate each house for its own unique attributes and walk or read and just watch others...I began to really notice nature which was a real blessing for me - it was a living tapestry amazingly composed and ALIVE! Try it, you'll see. When the wind blows through the leaves it's as though they were applauding because they were happy to be alive! : )
Journal your thoughts without thinking...just let them flow onto the page...wait a day or two and read what you wrote! WOW!
Understand you're getting to know WHO you are and you're going through a transition
So EMPLOY YOUR INSIGHT HERE: >>>WINTER doesn't mean the trees are dead!<<< They still gather what they need through their ROOTS and are alive and well~
>>>SO ARE YOU<<< : )
Have you ever defined or redefined yourself - on paper?
Have you ever divided a sheet of paper into two columns and put down what you would like to do, become, acquire, etc? What you would like to improve on? Change your hair cut, color or style of clothes?
Looking into the mirror what kind of job do YOU think you qualify for? If it's not what you want then maybe you can qualify yourself for a higher level by taking forward steps ~ in a mini way.
Maybe you can take just one course in a Community College if you haven't already and just try an art, crafts, photography course, whatever pleases you.
If you're broke apply for FAFSA and you don't have to pay for your tuition...great!
Your assignments will be challenging, structured, fun and rewarding & that equals PRIDE and higher self-esteem...great!
Changing your life is easy, really. Just change your mind. Take a course or read good books and FILL YOUR MIND AND HEART with good, healthy, nurturing ideas and things and stay away from stuff that pulls you down.
AKSO! >>>STAY AWAY FROM THE WRONG PEOPLE! Protect your vulnerability<<<
Except for the wholesome family shows like cooking, or Dancing with the Stars or Idol. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! I don't recommend much TV since it's mostly filled with manufactured looking people and creates an ugly and unreal reality...which doesn't exist...Generally TV (not all shows) makes the average person feel inadequate physically, financially, intellectually and sexually all - really bad as role models. Take a look at the top stars and their addictions. How healthy are their lives? I'm not even talking the about the ones that have them but they keep it behind closed doors. Why? Because the expectations are not healthy.
Try it! There are a lot of venues you can attend that are FREE. If you don't have a PC go to the library and check it out.
Also at the library look for local group meetings and see if you can find things you'd maybe want to see. No one's asking for DNA samples from you but by observing you participate, it gets you out and among people and it puts good thoughts into your head.
Those of ous who HAVE been where you are can see your path...isn't that a pain? lol
YOU'RE WORTH IT
YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL
YOU'RE UNIQUE
WE NEED YOU
THE WORLD NEEDS YOU
OTHERS WILL BE IN YOUR POSITION AND THEY WILL NEED YOU...
YOU ARE DISCOVERING TINY, UGLY NUBS WHICH ONE DAY WILL GROW INTO LONG GRACEFUL AND BEAUTIFUL WINGS THAT WILL TAKE YOU WHERE YOU DECIDE TO GO...
SO WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO?
Just change your mind! Make a small decision to DO something that will take you AWAY from your negativity and find others to help you or who share in your interests and STAY AWAY FROM ALCOHOL AND DRUGS AND BAD MUSIC, MOVIES AND NEGATIVE INFLUENCES...
BUT MAKE SURE YOU DON'T LOOK FOR OTHERS IN THE SAME DOWNER, LIKE YOU, WHO MIGHT PULL YOU DOWN OR MAY EVEN MAKE YOU FEEL WORSE!
MISERY LOVES COMPANY...YOU HAVE TO FIGHT THAT. Better to be alone reading a book by an successfully healthy mind!
I WOULD ALSO LIGHT A CANDLE...LOOK AT THE FLAME it's beauty and symbolism is very uplifting. Try talking to God - I make NO apologizes for my faith it helps me all the time but it's something I discovered...and so you will also discover a spiritual path.
Which brings me to the whole idea here...OWN YOUR BAD FEELING BECAUSE ONLY GOOD THINGS WILL COME FROM THEM IF YOU ACCEPT YOUSELF FOR YOUR GOOD, BAD AND UGLY POINTS.
eVeRrY ONE HAS THEM. It's the human experience. SUICIDE IS DUMB! So if you feel that bad call 911>>>not kidding<<< YOUR life is more valuable and more precious to the entire human race because on a higher level we're all linked which has NOTHING to do with the outer appearances, where we live or money.
You are NOT lost. It's when people feel like you do and FILL themselves with bad relationships, drugs, booze, self-destruction...NOW THAT'S LOST!
If you feel bad, that's normal, and welcome to LIFE but it's up to you to LEARN to be an ADULT...it's HARD because it's a transition. I could tell you a ton of stories but you have to start CREATING your own life and accept your mistakes as LESSONS and don't blame yourself HOWEVER DO LEARN FROM THEM and try not to repeat them and start focusing on living, journaling, writing and indulging in the becoming of the entity and beautiful presence that you are.
As you clear away the webs, and fog, and pits, and quicksand and snakes (mental thinking) after, when you look in the mirror your change will reflect and as that occurs you will begin to attract what is good for you. There will be a difference in your eyes because you're working where it counts on the deeper levels where success lives and is waiting to be released!
JUST DON'T get hung up on materialism because it's a promise of emptiness. Follow the path of living from the inside out then the material plane will come to you in different ways and each thing that comes will be a test - to test your weakness, vulnerabilities and inside character to see how you keep a balance. When you goof up, say *woops, that right, I was off on that one, okay, here I go one more time* and then you begin back on track again.
Read, write, take courses, go to plays, take walks, go where there is water, take a class in poetry and express the uniqueness that nobody or nothing can or ever will duplicate because you're beauty is unable to be duplicated...but YOU have to find that out>>>you already have the answers inside you and they will be given to you along with their rewards as long as you change your mind and say "Yes I'm gonna try and do something positive today no matter how small and maybe you fill the tub without water or candle and stay in for 5 minutes...hey it's a stary, right?".
It's up to you. One of the best ways to feel good about yourself is to feel useful and committed so try taking a course and go from there.
Whatever you do there are those of us who do care. You're worth it, you're wonderful and you're beautiful. Take care of yourself and protect yourself from others who may be negative. Pray and ask for help and guidance. Expect it, and it will come.
Much Light and Love to you.
