Re: please help! foot odor
Hi theqbfox,
I had foot odor on and off for many year, and i found that I got it after my feet & shoes got wet on rainy days, or when my shoes started to get comfortably older, but not yet completely run down. I always thought it was a fungus infection, and used antifungal medication for it. Little did I know that I was making worse by doing so.
One day I went to a podiatrist to have an ingrown toenail removed, and asked her about it, and she told me that foot odor is a bacterial infection. She explained to me that the feet have a good balance of fungus and bacteria, and if one should happen to get stronger than the other breaking this good balance, then you end up with either athlete's foot infection or a bacterial infection which produces foot odor.
So, since I didn't have an apparent fungal lesion, and I did have foot odor, she sold me a white powder call On your Toes. It's made in the U.S., and I really don't know where you could buy it. The box has a toll-free number for calling from the U.S., 800-726-5790, so you can call and see how you can get it. The content of it is Bactericide USP purified microfined oxide of zinc. It took care of this foot odor, and it even eliminated the odor in my shoes as well because I put a capful of powder in each shoe.
I put the powder in my younger son's sneakers that he uses to run 6 to 10 miles a day as he practices with his Track team, and it does help alot with the odor.
Hope you can find a product that contains this medication that would help you.
