Sounds like all the right things are being done..
I'm very glad the girl got the right sort of testing. I don't know what her sexual history is, and you probably don't either. She actually may have had this infection for some time from a previous partner and it just didn't act up until then. Or, as Johny points out, she may have gotten it after your episode with her if she had a partner after you.
The sores inside your mouth sound much more like canker sores and not herpes. In any event, she didn't get her infection from you giving her oral sex, so we can rule that out.
I'm glad you are getting tested. At 8 weeks, most people who are infected will test positive. If you get a negative result, you may want to retest at around the 16 week mark, just to be sure. By then something over 98% of infected people will test positive.
