well I would agree with you, that the one size fits all is an extremely good starting point.
It should stand to reason and sound common sense that "we are what we eat"; the health of our brain & nervous system depends entirely on the nutrition it receives, which if deficient, can have neurotic and even psychotic outcomes.
It is well known that a deficiency in the B-Complex Vitamins leads to all kinds of negative, physical & mental, behavioural and emotional disorders:
mental problems
chronic fatigue
chronic exhaustion
paranoia, vague fears, fear that something dreadful is about to happen
nervousness
ADD (attention deficiency), inability to concentrate, irritability
feeling of uneasiness
thoughts of dying
easy agitation, frustration
inability to sleep (insomnia)
restlessness
crying spells, inability to cope

to name but a few.

Recent studies have also found that the Omega3 fatty acids play a large part in an individuals emotional and mental development and well being.
My own Depression was "cured", if you like, by Nutritional supplementation, and a return to a wholesome-living kind of lifestyle called Natural Hygiene, which is well worth looking into....if you have the time!!!

Before anyone jumps down my throat, that Nutritional cures for Depression are not the only ones, I would agree with you, but (in my own experience) it provides an excellent foundation as a first-choice plan of treatment as deficiency may be the only cause.
One further point I would like to add, is that I think each of us have differing bio-markers for what represents a deficiency: what may be too much supplementation for one, may be not sufficient for someone else.

Glad you are feeling much better...... Depression is a living hell.
