oil in a plastic bottle is a bad idea.


The old Chemistry rule of thumb "like dissolves like" leads me to believe that there could be some plastic dissolved in the oil. Plastics and oils are both "non-polar" (as opposed to water which is "polar." (and this is why polar water and non-polar oil do not mix). Being that the oil and plastic are both "non-polar" they will dissolve and meld into each other so that over time, the oil will dissolve some of the bottle plastic and there will be some plastic molecules in the oil.

I never buy any kind of oil if it is in a plastic bottle. When you start making a point of this it is shocking how much oil is marketed in plastic bottles. It probably won't kill you but I can't imagine how it could be good for you.
