Salicylic Acid and Zits

Hello ISers!

I was getting those huge zits. The ugly kind. Nasty little buggers.

I read on a website that salicylic acid is fantastic for these. It's the active ingredient in aspirin.

Well as you know, I do not take pharmaceuticals. But at this point I was a bit desperate. I mean, I looked like crap. Nothing was making these zits go away. So I went into our storage area and found an old bottle of uncoated aspirin. I got a small container and put a few drops of water in it with about 3 aspirin until they melted and turned into a grainy mass. I applied them to my face like a mask. Damn if it didn't dry up those zits and also, surprise, surprise....calmed down my rosecea signficantly. And my skins felt fantastic.

So I did this on just small areas, and had the same results...zits dried up really quickly. My face looked great.

So I felt guilty. I know I was soaking up aspirin. It was very Un-Curezone of me. I didn't do this often because you indeed soak every bit of it into your system. I read somewhere that so many people are allergic to aspirin and don't even know it. And it will soak in and thin your blood, so if you are on any herbs or medication for that, it will be contradicting.

I looked for an alternative and found it here:

There is a forum group on this site that discusses the aspirin mask. As a zit reliever and a anti-inflammatory, that acid is king. But Hannah, the chemist that runs the site has developed just the active of salicylic acid with Willow Bark.

Now, I must tell you I just bought the wash, so I have not tried hers. But it's the same concept however.

I just wanted to pass this onto the people that are having problems with those big honking zits. I had them all over. They were painful, and actually came to a head while I was at work. Very pretty.
