Re: Bank of America buys Countrywide

Absolutely, I have already been penalized for being
someone who does not represent a cash cow to the banks
but as long as they do not penalize me, I will play
that game. If they begin to charge me, I will drop
them like a hot potato. I have been denied credit
however, for example, at Target. They wanted to give
me a credit card and at the time with the purchase I
was making, it was worth my while to apply. I was
denied for the reasons you have suggested. I do not
really mind though as I have my own reasons for needing
a card and they do not include because I cannot pay my
way at this point. The time may come when like so many
others I may have to survive and juggle cards to make
do, but for now, I am only in the game for the convenience
and because so often reservations can only be made using
a card. I heard from friends who do not have the advantage
of a card and have been made acutely aware from their
hardships how it does impact the way you can do things
like buy airline tickets. I am going to a concert an
hour away tomorrow and paid by credit card. If I had
not had a card, my bet is there would be not tickets
left at the door if I were to just show up. I do
appreciate my ability to have this "stamp of approval"
and my banker assures me no matter what anyone says
that it is better to carry a zero balance than to
carry the debt even if I could afford to pay it off.
I sleep good knowing no one has anything on me either.
My neighbors on the other hand both work good high
paying jobs and they are more stressed and in massive
debt which makes me shake my head as they will use their
cards to buy everything from Starbucks to a newspaper.
I guess I just see it more like you...its my money and
I earned it, they didnt. If they want it, it will have
to be because I just could not swing avoiding being
under their thumb. So far, so good. I actually have
thought of this, and back in the seventies I had a
boss who gave me great advice when I was whining how
hard it was to juggle having a life and also satisfying
my obligations to others. She told me she always found
that a jar of peanut butter was the best solution to
all her problems. She never let anything get by her
that eating from a jar of peanut butter for a month
would not help. I have never been one to collect debt
and no one has ever made much money off my debt either.
