Can't sleep, body shakes violently when laying down and falling asleep

I don't know what is wrong with me. When I am asleep for a few minutes I am awoke by a racing heart, my whole body is extremely heavy, and my body is shaking and sometimes violently like a seizure. It doesn't happen unless I start falling asleep. This happened to me on occassions a few years back. It seems to be related to my adrenal glands? When my adrenal fatigue is worse is when the symptoms seem to come around. It also seems to happen the more i lay down in a sleeping position. Sitting up while sleeping seems to lessen the effects.

I woke up screaming and told my husband I was dying and to call the ambulance. However while he was getting me dressed to go to the hospital the feeling started to leave and I got better as I sat up longer. However laying down makes me feel worse and sleeping with laying down is the worst.

I also noticed it happens around the time my stomach is acting up and in a lot of pain. Is it possibly a vagyl (sp?) response? I read somewhere a while back that when you have heartburn or stomach problems sometimes the vagus (sp?) nerve can get stimulated and cause passing out and shaking and other things.
