Re: Reasons for hope...

I am sorry, I cannot believe that statistic about 80% of the world's population have yet to use a telephone. Now if they mean 80% of the world's population that EVER existed (all those dead people through the centuries) then yes. But I'm sorry, far more than 20% of all people these days have used telephones. Even poor people in China and the Philippines and Indonesia have Cell Phone s! (I have been to these countries). It is ridiculous. MOST people in North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia (including China and India) have used telephones. I am assuming (because I don't know about South America) that the same is true for most countries in South America. That leaves Africa. Sorry, but even if Nobody in Africa had ever used a phone (which they have), it would still leave us with more than 20% of the world using a phone.

Sure, not everybody HAS a phone, and not everybody uses a phone. But it is a significantly higher percentage than 20% of the world who does have and/or use telephones.
