Re: Ignatia

Hi,

Yes, correct diagnosis is important. There is a sequential approach to treating the emotional and physical traumas in one's life one by one, from the most recent going backward in time, like peeling off layers of an onion.

Issues from early childhood can be treated, but usually it takes this sequential approach to get to those deeper layers and remove those traumas effectively. We can only work with what the life force is bringing up at a particular time.

When remedies "don't agree" with you, there could be several possible reasons. There could be an aggravation, which is a temporary worsening of symptoms, as a result of a curative remedy, in self-limiting diseases. This is a good sign that the counter-action, or the body's response to the remedy, is favorable.

In chronic diseases, there is a healing reaction which can also be a worsening of symptoms, and again, that could be a positive sign.

Or, sometimes the potency is too high for a particular person, and that can produce a more intense healing reaction.

A skilled practitioner would be able to determine what's going on when you have symptoms or various discomforts after taking a remedy.

The Ignatia 30C can be taken on one's own for a few days, but I wouldn't continue it much longer than that unless under the guidance of a practitioner. In other words, using remedies on one's own is fine for self-limiting conditions, but anything more chronic requires an in-depth workup.

As for how often, it depends on the intensity of the symptoms. When acute symptoms are very intense, you can take a remedy every few mintues - even every few seconds, sometimes. But generally, several times a day is fine. You can also put a dose into a cup of water and sip it many times a day, to expose yourself to the remedy more often in a very gentle but powerful way.

No foods or drinks need to be avoided - the only issue is with certain things that contain oils, because if your mouth contains oils coating the mucus membranes, the remedy may not be absorbed properly. So it's best to have a clean mouth when taking a remedy. But if you've just eaten, you can just take some water.

Hope that helps!
Karen
