don't be fooled by fema's relocation program!!!!

I recently recieved a letter from FEMA offering to reimburse me for any transportation costs associated with relocating over 55 miles away from my original address. I was puzzled by this. I called and found out that the most I could receive is $4000.00. I would have to provide them with receipts to show that much and I could not have used a private vehicle to make the trips. They could reimburse me for gas to move my stuff and they could reimburse me for a u-haul or similar truck rental. Well, that knocks a lot of folks out of that loop ok. The other thing is that FEMA is using this as a way to not pay any futrther money to people already recieving benefits. I was told that if I submitted any receipts and took part in this one-time relocation assistance program that I could not file any further claims with FEMA regarding hurricane katrina. This includes any type of rental assistance too. (not that they ever really gave me any) LOL!! If you are receiving rental assistance and are displaced do not use the relocation program and honestly I have spent well over $4000.00 during my constant moving around since katrina happened and to offer somebody $4000.00 is like a slap in the face. The other thing is they know folks are not going to have any reipts for that stuff from like two years ago you know. So here we have another effort by FEMA to dodge the bullet.
