Re: A glut of cheap carbs & iodine deficiency *edit*
Yeah. I eat alot of spinach. I LOVE fresh spinach.
The only problem with veggies is they have natural defenses that your liver has to work hard to break down. This is probably where
Iodine assists you.
I actually had to quit eating meat only because I can't find any meat anywhere near here that isn't aged, cured, treated or changed in some way.
When I eat alot of meat I break out in SERIOUS hives that scar my skin. It's from the amine content due to cooking, and also aging/tenderizing meat.
If I could find some really good fresh meat, that isn't changed and eat it raw I would.
So I eat LOTS of eggs. Eggs and cheese seem to do me very well.
It's actually not a high protein diet. I made that stupid mistake early on when I switched from high carbs. Protein stimulates significant insulin response too, and if you're in my messed up state still throws off your blood sugar.
It's got to be a high fat diet, since fat blunts insulin spikes.
My problem was/is with an inactive thyroid...I still don't utilize the insulin I produce no matter how little. So it still would spike no matter what.
Yeah I did hear him talk about that. That's what really got me excited about doing this. I also read an experience of another man who's reactive hypoglycemia was cured when he went on Synthroid.
Though I'm not keen on taking synthetic thyroid medication. I'll stick with what nature intended my thyroid to use.
1300 blood
Sugar should have KILLED that lady. I don't know how she survived that. 800 even is lethal. But the fact that she did 50 mg of Iodoral and the first month her
Sugar was 98 average without having to inject insulin is quite literally a miracle.
Personally I just want to get back to the point where I can eat some normal food socially again. Not load up on carbs, but if I happen to be in a social setting be able to eat reasonable amount from time to time and not go nuts.
Overall though, carbs are out.
I should also mention I was an alcoholic for several years. I drank every day for a few years, and at times drank as much as a full handle of liquor in one night.
I also went a full calendar year without a day off. I was stressed out to the max in many different ways, and full of alcohol.
I'm sure that didn't do my thyroid or liver any favors. Thankfully I don't drink like that anymore....rarely do I ever drink alcohol these days. And actually will abstain while I do the
Iodine loading protocol. Plus I have a totally different, super low stress job to get me through school now.
I bet this reverses alot of the damage I've done the last 5 years. And I'm only 23!!!!
