Re: diet
That makes sense what you're saying about diet and cleansing.
I'll probably get flamed for this on a natural healing board, but my diet is usually pretty bad by health standards. Let me explain. I'm a male, 26 years old. I'm an ectomorph (naturally small bone structure, very fast metabolism). I'm also a weight lifter. In order to *maintain* weight, I have to eat around 3000-3,500 calories per day. In order to actually put on weight, I usually eat closer to 4 or 5,000 calories per day. With my metabolism, it's very difficult for me to add weight, but even with my diet (which you're about to read about), I always am around 9 or 10% bodyfat.
So it's impossible to eat "cleanly" or "healthy" and get that many calories per day, so a lot of my diet comes from more fatty type foods. I eat a lot of pizza and a lot of fast food (because it's a good value as far as calories per dollar goes). BUT, I have to throw in a caveat here: I don't eat sweets, desserts, etc., because I don't have a sweet tooth. I never drink soda. 90% of the time if I'm drinking something, it's water or skim milk. The other 10% of the time it's probably juice. When I go to fast food places, I don't eat fries or anything. It's usually burgers or chicken sandwiches (for the protein and calorie content). So while I'm eating a lot of fast food, it's the healthier stuff as opposed to the more unhealthy stuff (like fries, soda, milkshakes, etc.).
The night before I got sick, my dinner was two pan seared steaks with a red wine reduction sauce, and two potatoes with bacon and cheese... it was awesome. That's a pretty typical meal for me.
You have to understand where I'm coming from, tho. Most people are trying to lose weight... for me, it's a constant struggle to NOT lose weight. If I ate like a normal person, I would look like a walking skeleton. My metabolism is very fast. I know that how I eat is not very healthy, but it's my only option to not look malnourished. So I try to be as healthy as possible about it, which is why I only drink water, don't eat fries, don't eat desserts, etc. I do eat a lot of salads/vegetables and I also take a multivitamin every day.
So, as far as putting toxins in my body goes, I'm sure I'm HORRIBLY guilty of that, despite avoiding sugars and desserts and purely fried foods and stuff. But my other choice is to eat more "normal" or "healthy" and be super skinny. For reference, I have the same genes as my father, who eats "normally" and is 6'1", 165lbs @ 9% bodyfat.
So given my diet situation, do you have any tips or advice to help minimize toxin buildup?
