Re: Questions in general

Hi Betty,

I looked at the closest thing I could find to the ingredients here, and it doesn't look to be too bad:

http://www.nuvobody.com/pages/heavy_metal_cleanse_info.aspx

Effects may be therapeutic, but it doesn't appear to contain any chelating agents per se.

I'll give a very brief summary of the Cutler protocol.

There are two main problems with mercury toxicity. One is that removing mercury can be dangerous, as when a chelating agent pulls mercury out of the cells, it tends to drop quite a bit of it before the mercury can be removed from the body. This is especially true when the chelating agent's action, like any medicine, begins to fade. This is called redistribution, and can make you really sick.

The other is that mercury can slowly cross the blood-brain barrier, and when it does it is very difficult to get out. So you need a chelating agent that can pull it out of the central nervous system, including the brain, along with any other cells with a restrictive semi-permeable membrane that would trap mercury.

Cutler protocol is not an easy fix, but it is effective, non-painful, and inexpensive. It involves taking small amounts of Alpha Lipoic Acid (most important) and usually DMSA (dimercapto succinic acid) every three hours (including nights) for about three days a week. Period of time where you have to do this can vary, but can be as long as 3-4 years. Or maybe as little as a few months. Both substances mentioned are available without prescription. ALA you can find in any health food store, DMSA you can order on the internet.

Waking up at night to take this stuff is not nearly as hard as it sounds. It's a little annoying, but that's all.

You have to break up the capsules, because the amounts we use are smaller to start off with than is available in a prepackaged form. Also a little annoying, but I've gotten used to it.

All the other Western-based protocols I'm aware of are either outright dangerous (DMPS injections), partly effective (sweating), or ineffective (clay baths).

There is a lot of material on the forum here. You can also check out the page at

Spend some time looking into this first before you do anything. For starters, you can't take ALA for another three months. The reason? Getting your Amalgams removed added some new mercury to your system, and you want to get mercury levels down before you start taking something that in the case of ALA would actually carry it INTO the brain. Blood levels of mercury have to be less than brain level. You can do that with DMSA, sweating, and other detoxification practices.
