Re: Apple Cidar vs. Apple Juice???

Apple cider is the name used especially in the United States and parts of Canada for a non-alcoholic drink made from pressing whole apples. It is more sour and cloudy than conventional apple juice and may contain some pulp. Most commercial apple cider is pasteurised. When you use a home juicer you produce apple cider. Apple cider, also known as hard cider in the many other parts of the world is the name given to an alcoholic drink made by fermenting pressed whole apples.

Apple juice is produced by crushing apples, and then filtered to make a clear juice which is then usually pasteurised.

Malic acid is believed to be the useful part of apples and other fruit that is capable of making a Liver Flush more productive. Malic acid is difficult to destroy by pressing, pasteurisation and most food processes.

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is a well known natural health supplement the content of malic acid is changed by the fermentation process. Concentrated apple cider vinegars can contain up to 20% malic acid but conversely some commercial ACVs have very little. Due to its acidity, apple cider vinegar can be very caustic, even burning the throat and should be diluted with fruit juice or some people enjoy it with warm water and honey.

Apple cider vinegars vary greatly in purity and you need to buy from a reputable source.

Apple cider tablets produce for the health food industry are very variable and may not contain any malic at all. There may also be very high in acetic acid, so its difficult to know what to purchase without some reliable knowledge about the products. Tablets need to taken with plenty of water as they contain concentrated acid.

My advice is to always use the least interfered with food.
