You describe how the craving for drinking returns for psychological reasons and not biological reasons. You suggested that the proof for this was that after you << do a version of this with a heavy carb dinner, etc. -- but inevitably the mind will take over and the drink will occur.>>

But a heavy carb dinner would worsen the craving because this would trigger excess insulin secretion causing a hypoglycemic dip ---> craving. It was not the mind which took over, but the body. If you want to stop the craving you need to make sure that the brain is not starved of biological energy ultimately derived form the sugars in food. Insulin resistance causes an unstable blood Sugar supply to the brain, triggering cravings to try to stabilize energy supply to the brain. Therefore you need to treat the insulin resistance that lies at the root of addiction.
