LuellaMay...

Hi LuellaMay,

Ya know, I know that not all abandoned animals can be saved but sometimes I believe that God intervenes and gives some a chance. You are these two pups chance. That is why they were in the middle of the road when you came along. Bless you...

Reminds me of many a story, one being when my daughter was a senior in High School. She had gone to a swimming hole with some friends of hers. To get to the swimming hole in the creek you had to hike back through the woods a bit. On their way out she had to go off the trail to use "the restroom". While doing so she came across seven abandoned pups, one of which was already dead. They looked to be about 6 - 8 weeks old. They were severely underweight, were covered in fleas and ticks. Being my daughter she knew that she had to rescue them.

I received a call from her sometime before she was expected home. She was crying and told me of the pups that she had found. She described their condition and where they had been abandoned. She then asked if she could bring them home ... what could I say? Of course she could bring them home! She then told me thanks that she would be home in a minute that she was at the K Mart!!! The K Mart was only two blocks from our house!! :-) She knew that I couldn't say no any more than she could have left those pups to die in the woods. She rode in the bed of her friend's truck about 10 miles with those pups.

I cannot tell you the state of those pups health. Thank goodness my vet and I had known each other for over 10 years at that time and he was used to us rescuing animals. I didn't think that I would ever get all the ticks and fleas washed off but finally the pups washed up clean! After a good worming and good food they started blossoming and the pale gums pinked up, their coats became full and shiny and their eyes bright!!

We kept them until I was sure that they were healthy to go to new homes. We found all six of those pups a forever home.

You have a good heart, Luella. It shows in your posts and in this kind act. And the fact that you have several rescued animals in your home. How I wish that we could rescue them all!

I posted my story to show that yes, even though it is hard to imagine that someone would leave pups or kittens out somewhere to a sure and horrible death, it does happen a lot. All these people would have to do is take the animals to their local humane center. At least there they would have a chance of adoption or at least put down humanely.

Bless you,

~~Ailsa
