Re: coffee why not
Whether or not a stomach full of food is better or worse than a stomach full of coffee isn't really the issue, at all.
A stomach full of coffee and no food is extremely acid producing and dehydrating to your system.
--coffee leaches potassium and other vitamins from from the body
--it plays hell with one's blood sugar (that's why when you drink it, you don't feel that much hunger - because caffeine/coffee elevates your blood sugar in the same way that amphetamines, diet pill and cocaine do), so it negatively affects your pancreas, as well as your entire adrenal system.
--It's an addicting, artifical stimulant
--in a double blind study (Duke University Medical Center) 4 cups of coffee daily "significantly raised systolic and diastolic blood pressure consistently throughout the day and night, and adrenaline levels rose by 32 percent....The caffeine appears to compound the effects of stress both psychologically in terms of perceived stress levels and physiologically in terms of elevated blood pressures and stress hormone levels, as if the stressor is actually of greater magnitude".
--From the Journal of AMA: (JAMA, 26 Jan. 1994, p. 280-3.) "There was a significant association between (drinking more) caffeinated coffee and decreasing bone mineral density at both the hip and the spine, independent of age, obesity, years since menopause, and the use of tobacco, estrogen, alcohol, thiazides, and calcium supplements [in women]."
--must I go on? :o)
It's not a question of whether coffee is "better" for your stomach than food is; it's an issue of coffee being a toxic substance that negatively impacts your body's major systems...which in turn, prevents your body from attaining the health you are seeking.
'Wish I could give ya better news (I'll always love coffee), but that's the truth of it.
