Demodex mites/skin stuff
Harry, I remember you from a few months ago - you were trying to improve skin problems in particular, right? Listen, I just bumped into something here on Curezone in the acne/rosacea forum that turned on a big lightbulb for me - Demodex mite as a major cause of acne, rosacea, & other skin problems. I started breaking out way more than usual a few months ago and developed an itchy, red, pimply, peeling rash around my nose that just wouldn't go away. I put 2 and 2 together when my mom had the same thing, though milder, and we are both taking turns caring for the very elderly family dog who is looking quite mangey as of late. Although - that could be a coincidence, since it sounds like it's very prevalent and people can carry it for years without any symptoms. I found several web sites that sell products that specifically kill Demodex. They're "a blend of traditional chinese hers & modern medicine," which my boyfriend says has a lot to do with the communist government not being real supportive anymore of the old herbal remedies. So it looks like the products are not chemical-free, but I have seen one or two that look pretty close, and you don't have to use them forever. I think it's worth researching. It sounds like most humans (and animals) carry them to some degree, and it's actually the bacteria IN the mite that causes an immune inflammatory response in some people, typically during hormonal fluctuations, stress, immune system impairment, etc. The symptoms don't act exactly the same in everyone, either. If the Demodex mite theory is true, I would imagine that's why some people have their skin conditions improve when they do a lot of cleansing and dietary changes, since that would improve your overall health and immunity and allow you to be more resistant. I'm going to explore it myself. One site I found that has some good info is:
http://www.demodexsolutions.com/ . The guy that seems to run the site and answers questions in the forum is very helpful, his name is Walter.
Another site I found has pretty much the same products, though they have one that looks purely herbal and simliar to the previous site, but they say it kills the mite even though it's just chinese herbs. I think Walter's site has a similar product that's all herbal, but they say that is not the one that's effective againts the mites. Anyway, this other site is:
http://www.demodex.info/index.htm
I posted a question to MH about whether he had an all herbal topical product I could use, but didn't hear back. I might call them, though, since i need to place another order for some of his other stuff.
Hope that might help you.
