Re: Skeptic oil pulls for the heck of it...
Hi molly. I'm by no means a skeptic when it comes to natural health but I like to know the reasons why something works.
That said, scientific research is patchy when ti comes to whether, say, echeaneca helps colds or not but I'm 100% convinced it works - scratchy throat feelings that used to 100% mean I would get a full-blown cold can now be removed with a couple of doses of echeaneca. If people in the office have colds and coughs, taking it as a preventative really works. When I was a kid/teen I'd come down with everything and get headcolds, ear infections, chest infections all winter long. I have to work for my immunity. The point is, I know echeaneca works so I don't really care what debunking comes out to say it doesn't.
I've continued oil pulling another week or two and the effects are still good. I actually had one of the 'scratchy throat' moments when my wife came down with a huge head-cold. As always, echeaneca and good nutrition kicked it into touch but, interestingly, while oil pulling a little blob of phlegm came up from the throat which seemed to really clear that 'getting a cold feeling'. SO oil pulling could just be another tool against the winter sniffles.
Another thing - when I was a kid I was plagued by ear infections and often suffer blocked or 'glue ear' sensations. Oil pulling seems to be making my ears clearer. It could just be the jaw movements involved in the pull (like how yawning can pop your ears) and the effect wears off during the day but at times my ears feel super clear and sound really distinct, which is unusual for me.
Also the oil pulling is no longer a hassle. Get-out-of-bed, oil pull while showering or getting stuff togther for work, have breakfast, brush teeth. Then when coming in form work, take some oil while undressing or sorting stuff out.
