Re: Please Help me.

hi, i am sorry to hear you are having so much pain and feeling bad while on mirena. It could be that you have an infection - there are many side effects to mirena and infections are more common - the smell could also be a sign of this. The brownish bleeding often happens, especially in the first month or three after mirena is inserted. People often do get pain, such as period type pains, stomach cramps etc with mirena, however, it sounds like your pain is beyond that and you should go to your doctor immediately - ask them to check firstly that the mirena is in the correct position and that it has not moved - they can break the uterus and move through it into the body cavity. Then, assuming it is in the correct position still, ask them to test you for infection. It is possible to get pregnant on mirena - no contraception is completely effective, except changing our life style and not actually having sex. However, many people on this forum, once they get mirena out, have been going onto the more old fashioned, but side effect free form of contraception of knowing your natural cycles and just having intercourse at the safe times. (There are books on this, and lots of info on the net). This can be combined with a condom and spermicidal cream for extra protection. Nothing is ideal but it sounds like your body does not respond well to artifical hormones and for the sake of your future health i would really get off the chemical route. You only have to look at the last few pages of these forums to see that for some of us, our health is really messed up in the long term after mirena - the side effects do not always go completely when mirena is taken out because it can change the way the hormonal system functions in our bodies and that can take a long time to sort out. Below is a link to some of the side effects of mirena, so that you can be better informed - it is what the doctors should tell us in the first place, but usually do not!!(check out the Warnings section and Cautions too, not just the side effect list) good luck, i hope that your health improves soon - nothing is more important than being well:) thinking of you:) xx
