Re: America: Parasites for real?
It was a big surprise to me that humans get animal liver flukes. Had I not seen them in the toilet for myself, the next day after starting dewormer, and in the past 3 weeks- I probably would have thought it was not a possibility.
There's alot of information, with pictures (search liver fluke, and hit "image") concerning animal liver flukes. They are a problem for cattlemen/sheepmen, especially in wet areas like the Pacific Northwest- but they also affect the wildlife. We did give the dewormer to the cattle too, but I'm not sure it was given as often as probably needed to break the cycle, (it's costly too), but they were continually being reinfested. If you do the search, and read the information, it gives the cycle that occurs, with the snail/slug.
This is an interesting article about how some Llama owners were having their Llama's dying, and finally figured out it was liver flukes that were killing them.

That's just one of the many articles you can find on animal liver flukes.
My dad has been a horseman all of his life, and knows the importance of worming the horses regularly, or they just don't perform well, and don't feel well. Bowel blockages can also occur from them.
I have to run, but there are interesting things to search on the internet, with images and articles.
