Hi Chuckles: Thanks for that post. It's a long article so I'll read it later.
I've told this story before. I believe its in my "NHP, Fundamental 3, regular nutrition" post.
Vietnam, Nov 1970 - through Feb 1971 I put on 30 pounds and went from being very sick to the best shape of my life. I did it on Army chow. No raw food at all. And Army chow is worthy of its bad reputation.
In the jungle we ate C rations and dehydrated food. On the firebase it was mostly meat and potatoes. Plenty of homemade bread and pancakes. Believe it or not the food on the firebase was pretty darn good. But besides an apple every now and then when we could get them and some locally grown pineaple, no raw food.
I put on over 30 pounds and was in the best shape of my life on that food. So the conclusion you have to draw from that is "Necessity levels and availability levels" must be put into the equation.
No doubt raw food would seem to be the best way to go. But if it ain't there it's rather surprising what you can get by on. I personaly feel that you should eat only locally grow foods but here in the north country the growing season is so short it's impossible to do without importing the food from the south. Soooo....
If I lived in the south or the tropics I'd love to eat only raw food. So it all depends.
I think it's a testament to the spirituality of man that he can eat what he does and thrive thereof. Like I did in Vietnam on very bad food.
So if you live in a part of the world where raw food is in abundance - go for it, it HAS to be good for you.
I'm stuck up north here but I do dream about retiring to the South Pacific.
