Question About Cholesterol Medications

I have heard of 2 cases of ladies who were on cholesterol medication, and one quit her medication - - the other one tapered off planning to quit.

Both of them had a stroke.

Is this a real danger for folks who may be on this type of medication, who may be thinking of getting off of it ?
