Iodine and Insomnia Question - Re-Post
I know it was just earlier today, but I think it got buried. I'm feeling a little desperate for sleep, so posting again in case anyone has some ideas:
I'm not supplementing
Iodine yet, I'm just taking a 1-2tsp a day of kelp granules right now, plus a tsp. or two of cod liver oil, which I understand also has iodine.
Since I added those 2 things into my diet about 3 weeks ago, I'm definitely feeling more energy and my inflammation/headaches are better, but I'm having the worst insomnia. It was already a bit of a problem for me, but last night I barely slept at all. I've heard other people describe a simliar experience when they supplement with elemental iodine. Any thoughts? I'm liking the apparent benefits - more energy, less inflammation, feeling stronger, etc., but prior to this, even though my headaches were worse my energy was low, I was finally getting the point where I was sleeping better with the help of a good melatonin supplement. I'm not happy about being back to the insomnia.
I don't know if this is an issue, but I shouldn't be getting much fluoride other than whatever my shower filter doesn't take out and the occasional exposure from restaurant food. I have recently substituted my daily green tea with yerba mate (only in the morning and occasionally early afternoon).
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
