We are looking for some help. My husband (who is 48) has had Crohn's for 21 years, has had multiple surgeries, now he has avascular necrosis, with one collapsed hip. He has been on ALL western Crohn's medicines (Prednisone, 6mp, Asacol, Remicade, etc.). Nothing helps. As of now, he is on 40 mg daily of Prednisone, and he is on a Pain Management regime for his abdomen pain and collapsed hip. His health is just deteriorating. We have read up on Probiotics. I purchased Primal Defense and he agreed to try it. It just made matters worse, so, he stopped taking it. I have read from this wonderful forum that it can take 3-4 weeks for the probiotics to get over that "hump." This is where we need help. His gut is a mess. Right now his intestine is partially obstructed. Things "go through", but slowly and painfully. He can't eat much of anything, either. He can keep liquids down, and some "soft" foods. What do we do? Any suggestions? What about the predinisone, which is bad in itself and has caused is joint deterioration, but allows some food to pass. What do the pain meds do to his gut (he is on dialudid and methadone)? Any suggestions on a "diet"? He needs protein and nutrients, which is really is not getting. Some things (like yogurt!) make him vomit more. He is SO thin. I really appreciate any and all help. Thank you!
