Well I know how you feel. I had my Mirena out 8 months ago, and I am now absolutely fine, but I was in a bad way before that. I had a Mirena for about two years before my first child - no problem. I had one for for 8 months between children - no problem. I had a third one after my second child, and then things went awry. I was very run down and tired, and I started to get a sensation that I could not take a deep breath. I also experienced heart palpitations and a feeling of anxiety. I had a lot of medical tests- lung function, ECG, and a barrage of blood tests including thyroid and hormone tests. Everything was normal! My anxiety got progressively worse. I got skin allergies to things I had never had before such as to sunscrean. I was constantly constipated. I got tingling in my arms and hands. My fingers went white when I got cold. I got stiffness in my wrists. More tests all came back normal. I decided to see a therapist to try to address the anxiety. I saw a physician who said these were all signs of auto-immune disease, but I had no markers in the blood tests he took. Then my hair started falling out, mainly on my hairline (like a man's receding hairline). I went to see a dermatologist who asked me what contraceptive I was on. When I said Mirena, she did not hesitate to tell me to take it out.
About ten days after I took it out, I felt so anxious that I could not function, but gradually I started to feel better, and about four weeks after I had the loop out, I was feeling completely better!
My hair has grown back, the anxiety has gone, I feel great, lots of energy again. I had one incident of breathlessness about four months after I took it out, but that is all.
I realise that this loop affects everyone differently, and for some people it is just not right.
Good luck, and remember to trust your instinct. My gynae did not think it could have caused all my problmes, but I stuck to my guns.
